A new verbatim theatre workshop for high school students, led by Emele Ugavule.
Have you ever heard your grandmother tell a story you love? Watched your uncles laugh about the 'good old days?' Listened to your little cousins share secrets? Thought about turning it into play? If your answer is yes, you need to join our verbatim theatre workshops, led by actor, writer & director Emele Ugavule.
Over two weeks you will learn how to interview people with interesting stories and turn them into a performance work.
This anthology, Arrival, celebrates LOST IN BOOKS’ arrival in Fairfield and our first birthday. It also celebrates the remarkable talents of local writers and visual artists, in their mother tongues.
Arrival is our first publication. We publish the works proudly in the languages in which they were first written to share the richness of linguistic diversity in South Western Sydney, and to democratise the work of translation that is the work of First Nations peoples, migrants and refugees every day.
Thank you to the contributors and the LOST IN BOOKS team for responding to the invitation for exchange so generously and meaningfully.
